Shirin Hasan


Shirin Hasan is a seasoned Executive Leader in the Healthcare Industry. Shirin has in-depth
experience in bringing a concept to market to improve the quality of patient lives. Her career
spanning over 25 years has included expertise in the R&D, regulatory, medical and clinical
fields.

Her educational foundation in science and strong leadership drives her passion to strategize on
optimal ways to conduct studies, and leverage data for regulatory approvals and market
adoption by physicians and healthcare systems globally.

She most recently served as the Vice President of Global Clinical and Medical Affairs at
The Foundry, where the teams are committed to inventing technologies that redefine the
standard of care and transform patients’ lives.

Before joining The Foundry, she headed Global Clinical Affairs at Agilent Technologies, with
responsibility for the development and execution of clinical strategies to support Agilent’s
Cancer Diagnostics, Genomics Solutions, Life Sciences, and Clinical environment across the
enterprise.

She joined the early team at BARRX Medical in 2006 where she developed and executed the
clinical strategy that contributed to BARRX’s success.

Shirin was critical in bringing the concept of treating cancer of the esophagus to data-driven
regulatory approvals, successfully launching to worldwide market adoption as a Standard of
Care for the disease.

Shirin has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and has 2 patents. In addition to
her achievements in the medical field, Shirin is a champion of and passionate for empowerment
of women in the workplace, children and family services, and diversity and inclusion.
She is also a part of several scientific organizations such as the Precision Medicine Coalition
and MedTech Women. Shirin advises startups in setting up a clinical and adoption strategy. She
is a Board Member, an advisor, and mentor for the Women in Leadership program at California
State University East Business School, and an Industry Advisor at Stanford Spark.
Shirin was nominated as one of the 100 Muslim Women of Indian Origin in North America.
Shattering stereotypes, this initiative is designed to spotlight the leadership and contributions of
100 Muslim women who are changemakers in their fields.

Shirin holds a B.S. in Life Sciences and Biochemistry from University of Mumbai, an M.S in
Biochemistry from University of Mumbai and an M.S in Chemistry from SJSU, with research
conducted at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories and Stanford University.
