Low-income, disabled, limited English Speaking and Elderly taxpayers can get free Tax Preparation and Electronic filing help at the India Community Center (ICC) with personal income tax returns. 

Returns for 2009 will be filed electronically until October 15, 2010.  Returns for prior years can also be prepared.

Taxpayers (and spouses) need to bring their Social Security Cards, picture ID, and W-2s, and 1099 forms and the Social Security cards of their dependents.  IRS rules require taxpayers to be physically present for their returns to be completed.

In compliance with Federal Title VI rights, services are available regardless of racial background or national origin as long as they are within the scope of  VITA training.

The  VITA @ ICC site is staffed by IRS Certified VITA/TCE Volunteer Preparers. The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program is sponsored by the IRS and the CA FTB in conjunction with various Community Partners.

We are planning a new approach between now and October 2010.  If you would like to get your taxes done without the long wait when the lines are predictable, you may send us all the necessary information including the information and intake sheet by emailing them, or dropping them off at the front desk.  Your information will be looked at by available volunteers qualified to deal with your situation, and prepared ahead of time, and we will contact you to clarify any questions, and let you know when the return(s) are ready for pickup.
